The FDA Thinks Homeopathy is Sketch. Social Doesn’t -

The U.S. may be the most medicated nation in history, with about 130 million Americans popping, inhaling, infusing or injecting some kind of drug every day, but that doesn’t mean home remedies aren’t in the medicine cabinet.

In fact, homeopathy is more popular than ever, and both Social and Washington are keeping a close eye on such treatments. The Food & Drug Administration announced this week that it will start regulating and tracking homeopathic remedies, and although there won’t be any crackdowns on essential oils or herbal teas, the FDA didn’t rule out stepping in if it sees a risk to public health. The FDA will also review products with potentially unsafe ingredients sold to treat infants and children and those sold to combat serious conditions such as heart disease, cancer and opioid addiction. Despite the concerns around homeopathy, it remains popular on Social, pulling 72 percent positives, although there are some indication that many users think it’s all “nonsense.” –Hugo Guzman
